Western Carolina Pulmonary is dedicated to providing high quality, caring, and compassionate care to patients with pulmonary and sleep disorders in Western North Carolina.

Waverly S. Green MD

 

Dr. Green was born and raised in Bristol, TN. He received a B.A. in History from the University of Richmond, VA, where he graduated summa cum laude. He attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1987. He subsequently completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, all at the Medical College of Virginia.

Following completion of his fellowship, Dr. Green opened a solo practice in Sylva, NC from 1993 – 1995. He returned to Richmond to allow his wife to pursue further medical training and practiced with Pulmonary Associates of Richmond from 1995 – 2003, when he returned to Sylva and founded Western Carolina Pulmonary & Critical Care.

Dr. Green is board certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Sleep Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Medical Association, and North Carolina Medical Society.

Dr. Green’s personal interests include his family, photography, and hiking in the mountains of Western North Carolina.

Teresa D. Green MD

 

Dr. Green was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal. She came to the United States in 1984 to attend college at George Mason University, where she received a BS in Biology. Following graduation from college, she attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia, earning her MD with AOA honors. She subsequently completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine, also at the Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1994.

Following completion of her residency, Dr. Green practiced Internal Medicine briefly in Sylva, prior to returning to Richmond for additional training in Pulmonary Medicine. Although she did not complete her Pulmonary fellowship for family reasons (having triplets), Dr. Green found her niche in Sleep Medicine. After relocating back to Sylva, she joined her husband at Western Carolina Pulmonary in October 2003, and has worked part-time offering sleep medicine services.

Dr. Green is board certified in Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine. She is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the North Carolina Medical Society.

Beth Bailey MD

 

Dr. Bailey was born in North Bend, Oregon. She received a BS from Western Carolina University in 1976 and her MD from the University of North Carolina in 1980. She subsequently completed a family practice residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, and then relocated to Sylva NC in 1989, joining Sylva Medical Center, where she established a very successful Family Medicine practice.

After practicing Family Medicine for 19 years, Dr. Bailey developed an interest in Sleep Medicine and decided to purse training and practice in this growing field. She joined Western Carolina Pulmonary in March 2008, where she has undergone intensive training in Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Bailey is board certified in Family Medicine and will be eligible for Sleep Medicine certification in November 2009. She is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Medical Association, and the North Carolina Medical Society.

Jodie B. Wade, FNP

 

Jodie Wade, FNP was born and raised in Sylva, NC. She received a BS in Biology from David Lipscomb University in May 1990, and subsequently completed post-graduate nursing training at Vanderbilt University, receiving her Master of Science in Nursing in August 1993.

Following completion of her training, Jodie worked in Family Medicine in Texas prior to returning to Sylva in 2004. In Sylva, she initially practiced Family Medicine at Wellspring Family Practice, then joined Western Carolina Pulmonary in August 2007, where she now focuses on Sleep Medicine and Pulmonary disorders.

Jodie is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nursing Credentialing Center.
